On Thursday, June 16, 2016 a scene of disturbance when several pro and anti-supporters of indicted House Speaker J. Alex Tyler rained invectives and heated exchanges against one another in open session.
Speaker Tyler, who is also the political leader of the Liberian People Democratic Party (LPDP), is representing the people of Bomi County in the House.
The incident, which nearly resulted into a fistfight among some lawmakers, occurred when an order was raised by Margibi County Representative Emmaanuel Nuquay for indicted Speaker J. Alex Tyler to recuse himself from presiding over session.
Speaker Tyler had earlier called session to order, but was prevented by Representative Nuquay from continuing on grounds that he (Tyler) cannot be criminally indicted by the court and continues to preside over that August Body.
