Many Liberian citizens have been having mix reactions about Cahill invitation to Liberia. Many feel he, along with other colleagues from around Africa invitation for the dedication of a sports park built by the President of Liberia, George M Weah is irrelevant.
First let me run you through who Cahill is and his relevance to grace the occasion of the dedication of the Invincible sports park in Liberia.
Timothy Filiga Cahill AO is an Australian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder but also played as a striker on many occasions. A box-to-box midfielder, Cahill became recognised for “his aggressive and powerful approach and his ability to head the ball in the penalty area. Cahill also played for English premier league club Everton. Now at this point you are thinking in your mind that “yet still his invitation was irrelevant because he’s just a formal soccer player. Me-while You also need to know what he does now.
Now Tim Cahill is currently chief sports officer at the Aspire Academy in the UAE and is on the board at Belgian side KAS Eupen. Aspire Academy is a special school supporting children and young people aged 4 to 19 with SEMH needs to achieve their educational potential and live positive, fulfilling lives. Aspire Academy has a Park call the Aspire Park and it’s a 2.3 mile 5,000-step route located near Al Rayyan Municipality, Qatar. Aspire Park is located in Aspire Zone, in the southern district of Baaya in Doha, Qatar. It covers an area of 88 hectares and it is Doha’s biggest park.
The President of Liberia, George M Weah has a dream to build the future of young people and is seeking assistance from the Aspire Academy that will help build and educate children and young people future in sports through an academy so he had to start the ball rolling by building a sports park along other mini sports pitches already been built around the country, that will make the Aspire Academy work easier to educating Liberian children in sports.
An agreement was finalized between the Liberian government and the Aspire Academy through it’s representative The chief sports officer at the Aspire Academy in the UAE Tim Cahill. After the meeting with the Aspire Academy group, Tim Cahill posted on his official social media accounts. see below.
