Liberian born and now Master enrolling program at the Metropolitan university St. Paul, Minnesota, Stephanie Mawiah is gradually making it into the Nollywood straight to video films.

The straight-to-video (VHS, VCD and DVDs) distribution system which is a hallmark of Nollywood and it’s Nigeria’s cultural traditions and lifestyles that is being viewed by 180 million people, and saw the rise of the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, Rita Dominic, Omotola and many others.

Though Stephanie has got a degree in social science/sociology but has never lost her passion for acting. She took a course for acting at the John Casablanca school of acting and modeling in Bloomington, Minnesota.

On her visit to Nigeria from the US where she resides, Stephanie has gotten many roles from different film producers for bringing their strong characters to life.

In an interview with LSV, she stressed a point of helping the Liberian movie industry get notice in Africa. She told us that she has been and is working with some Liberian film producers and directors and wish to get those film on a bigger platforms as the ones she’s been working on in Nigeria.
