“As an adventurous and aspiring young lady on this great journey to Miss Africa Bay Area 2017, I remain humble, yet bold with a strong sense of determination. During my college years, I was involved in many school activities such as the Communication Honor Society Program, Cooper Woodson and Public Relations Student Association. Throughout my academics, I have received many academic awards including Academic Excellence Awards from Cooper Woodson Scholarship Program. I was granted the Chris Glen Scholarship for three consecutive years among other accolades. I strongly believe in the power of volunteering and serving my community. I have volunteered (and still is) for various organizations such as Saints John Homeless Shelter, the Roberts Family Development Center, 97.5 KDEE, the Associations and Citizens of Liberia, to name a few. Aside from volunteering, I have a show called “The Othelia JOY Show” where I interview individuals who are doing positive things in our community. At the end of the day, nothing gives me more pride than serving my community both domestically and globally.” Othelia Joy Marieh
