Liberian artistes in recent years have been doing great with both local and international collaborations. Their videos have been airing on Ghanaian and Nigerian networks. The likes of Tamba Hali who features one of the biggest engineers in Nigeria Masterkraft, Korbazzie who features Nigerian sensational artistes Davido and the track became a hit, Bucky raw, who features and was featured by Ice Prince,
Deng, one of the first artistes that features the Nigerian artiste Kcee and that video has been playing on MTVbase and even CIC who features Msvee of Ghana. The list goes on and on.
What is so disappointing, is a Ghanaian artiste by the name Stonebwoy who was interviewed by the Liberian radio host Karishma Dequeen. During a phone interview to the artiste Stonebwoy on Capital FM by Karishma Dequeen, was asked as to whether he knew any Liberian artiste and Stonebwoy could not name a single Liberian artiste but provokingly asked the host “Karishma” to help him out with a name but the host refused and left him with the responsibility to answer the question.
What was so disrespectful and insulting to me as I listened to the irritating guest, was he started to struggle on calling the name of an artiste who was part and parcel of the rising of the Ghanaian music industry. An artiste whose video was aired on MTVbase when he Stonebwoy was not even seen in competition or community talent shows. An artistes who the likes of Shatta Wale, Reggie Rockstone, Sarkodie and etc. would pay respect to, if they met him, for his contribution to the Ghanaian music industry. Scientific was a name Ghanaian music lovers reckoned with and for him Stonebwoy to struggle and insinuate as if Scientific wasn’t a no body disgust me.
Irene Logan is also a Liberian artistes in Ghana that has been making headways way before a name Stonebwoy was known in Ghana as a musician, didn’t he know that too? I guest he did but snob Liberian artistes on purpose. Is Stonebwoy telling the world that he’s not listening to other genre of music? Is he not listening to music made in other countries? Is he not paying attention to his own industry. Just recently “CIC” featured “Msvee” a Ghanaian artiste who was nominated for BET Awards. Is he not following too? I think it’s a gross disrespect to Liberian artistes’ hard work and time and he needs to apologize.
