According to Joel Cholo Brooks, a Liberian journalist at www.gunnliberia.com, Ghana base African actor, Van Vicker opens his first “Van Vicker’s School Of Performing Arts” in Monrovia which will cater to children, youth and young adults of Liberia. According to the writer, the information was made known over the weekend.
During an interview with some reporters, Vicker said that establishment of the school was his own way of helping to promote and identify the Liberian talents in the movies, music and fashion industries.
He also said that the school was designed to educate artist and future artists with a life-long career. The courses will involve, spiritual, ballet, tap dancing, modern-jazz, hip-hop, acting, Photography, Musical theater, tv broadcasting, etc..
Vicker says that his staff is consist of well-educated individuals that will fly into Liberia to provide industry-driven training to its students.
“Our balanced initiative is an intensive schedule that is effective in preparing young filmmakers, dancers, singers, musicians, performers the world of filmmaking and arts etc. ” He told www.gnnliberia.com
At the end of every semester, the performing arts students will put on major productions with an emphasis on addressing solution that will help to heal our nation.
Furthermore, Mr. Vicker acknowledges that the film production students will do a film that will highlight the rich history and culture of Liberia. Van is now encouraging Liberians to take advantage of the opportunity to go to the institution.
The school is located on Benson Street, Central Monrovia.
